About This Project

Lotus Guitar

The guitar was developed in collaboration with the jazz guitarist Max Clouth and is the predecessor of the electric Lotus guitar.

Additional to the 11 playing string on the both necks, the guitar has 12 sympathic strings running across the guitar top, who can optionally be muted with a lever in the soundhole. They run over a Jovari bridge, to produce a overtone-rich “buzzing” sound characteristic of classical Indian string instruments. The tuners for the sympathic strings are placed in the upper left side.

The second neck is fretless and the string tension very low to imitate the sound of an Arabic oud.
